MS-13 Gang A Concern For U.S.
U.S. law enforcement officials announced the arrest of 267 members of MS-13, a violent gang the Trump administration has vowed to get off America’s streets.
Federal prosecutors believe MS-13, or the Mara Salvatrucha, has thousands of members across the U.S., and the members are mostly Central American illegal aliens. MS-13 has placed neighborhoods in fear of their lives where a large population of Hispanic resides due to their involvement in murders and drug trafficking.
Steps by the Federal government have been initiated to reduce the fears in many American communities. U.S. law enforcement officials announced the arrest of 267 members of MS-13, a violent gang the Trump administration has vowed to get off America’s streets.
Massive arrests were made in recent weeks as part of a significant anti-gang crackdown code-named Operation Raging Bull. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lead the operation. The operation swept up 214 MS-13 members in the United States and 53 members in El Salvador, the gang’s home base, officials said.
“mata, viola, controla,”
One of the reasons MS-13 is feared is due to their motto which they live by, “mata, viola, controla,” which means, “kill, rape, control,” according to Robert Hur, a Justice Department official.
Sessions promised an all-out assault on the violent gang last month, designating it a “priority” for the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. “They leave misery, devastation, and death in their wake. They threaten entire governments. They must be and will be stopped,” Attorney General Sessions stated in Philadelphia last month. Well, that’s a relief. I hope AG Sessions is successful.
